soy milk

i haven't posted in a few days, i've had a pretty rough weekend. i have made a new discovery though. i am a die hard starbucks lover, and i often get hot chocolates (i know, i know, it's not coffee, but starbucks makes great hot chocolate!). anyways, i started getting my hot chocolate with soy milk in it and it's ten times better than just a plain hot chocolate!

spaghetti night!

i've always previously made spaghetti with meat in it, usually turkey burger, zucchini, carrots and a tiny bit of taco seasoning and it always turns out very good and everyone seems to love it. since i'm no longer eating meat, i just used zucchini, mushrooms, and i didn't have any carrots or taco seasoning so i left those out. i used a little bit of johnny seasoning salt, and salt and pepper and it turned out great. none of my pictures turned out very good so i gave up on that.

also, since im such a believer in my iphone i have another app i want to share. it has a silly name, ieathealthy, but it is a great app. it tells you what foods are high in. example; if you want to find foods in high fiber you go to the high in list and go to fiber and it has a list of foods high in fiber. or you can just look up foods to see what they are good for and high in. while it does not have everything, it does have quite a bit so it can be useful. it also allows you to look at the different food groups and it tells you how many servings of each you need, and it also allows you to log how much of each you've consumed.

soy milk cappuccino

so i've been hesitant to try soy milk. i grew up drinking regular milk. my boyfriend is just disgusted by regular milk and is always telling me that humans are the only animals that drink milk after infancy and from another animal. so i've stopped buying milk, and he made me try soy milk in my cereal the other day. it was good, but i was still a little hesitant. so today looking through vegetarian breakfast ideas i found this recipe for a soy milk cappuccino which you can find here. so i decided to be adventurous, and it's delicious!

fruit and veggie app

so i have an iphone, and i absolutely love it, so i'm always excited to find new apps that i will actually use. i actually read about this app on vegetarian organic blog, but it's really a cool app and i'd like to share it with more people. it's called locavore and it tells you what fruits and veggies are in season, which ones are coming up, and it can even find markets near your location. and the best part? it's free!

suggestions anyone?

So here goes, I've always tried to have a blog but never had anything to blog about. My new life change to become vegetarian has sparked ideas for a blog. I'm going on two weeks now not eating meat. I was actually a little hesitant at first to become a vegetarian, because I really do love meat. My boyfriend used to be a vegetarian and decided a couple of weeks ago that he wants to go back to vegetarian again. So after thinking about it for a couple of days I decided I would too. And now I am very quickly becoming a health nut. I've been reading vegetarian/vegan blogs, and reading the vegan books we have at home. Although I will not go vegan, (I just can't give up my eggs and cheese!) that is what we have to read, my boyfriend actually got them from a friend. There are a lot of vegan recipes though that sound very yummy. So I'd like to hear from anyone any suggestions about starting out, or even stories about when you started out as vegetarian/vegan!
